Volcanoes are rated from a scale of 0 to 8, 0 being non explosive and 8 being megacolossal. Not many megacolossal volcanoes have ever been recorded, and none in recent times. There have, however, been several volcanoes rated at 7 or above, two of these being Mt. Tambora in Sumbawa, Indonesia, and Krakatoa in Krakatoa island, Indonesia. A monster and unexpected volcano occurred in Mt. St. Helens in 1980. One of the most active Ring of Fire volcanoes is Mauna Loa in Hawaii. The Ring of Fire has hosted many active and damaging volcanoes over the years.
